Bagi penggemar Linux, di mana pun berada, apapun kegiatan komputerisasi yang dilakukan, tidak lengkap rasanya kalau tidak ada Linux disamping mereka. Termasuk juga bagi penggemar Ubuntu Linux, mereka tidak akan rela kalau pada komputer yang mereka gunakan tidak ada bau Ubuntu-nya.
Jika secara kebetulan anda menggunakan komputer Windows 7 dan tidak memungkinkan untuk menggunakan Ubuntu, anda bisa mensiasatinya dengan merubah tampilan Windows 7 mirip dengan Ubuntu Linux. Berikut penjelasan bagaimana cara menggunakan Ubuntu Linux Themes pada Windows 7 Professional:
- Download theme dari website Devian Art di http://nullz0rz.deviantart.com/art/windows-7-ubuntu-143360942
- Setelah proses download selesai, eksrak file tersebut menggunakan aplikasi ekstrak kesukaan anda.
- Buka folder Ubuntu dari hasil file ekstrak, di situ anda akan melihat folder Ubuntu dan file Ubuntu (Windows Theme File). Copy file dan folder tersebut ke folder C:WindowsResourcesThemes
- Sekarang pergi ke C:WindowsResourcesThemes dan lanjutkan dengan klik file Ubuntu (Windows Theme File).
Selesai, sekarang anda akan melihat tampilan Windows 7 anda mirip degan Ubuntu Linux. Jika ingin mengembalikan ke tampilan sebelumnya, anda tinggal menghapus file explorer dan menggantinya dengan yang lama (File bernama explorer-backup) yang dilanjutkan dengan memilih theme default Windows 7.
FAQ
Q) Tampilannya kok tidak begitu mirip dengan Ubuntu ya? Padahal saya sudah mengikuti langkah-langkah di atas?
A) Coba anda ulangi lagi langkah-langkah di atas, kalau perlu repalce file explorer.exe dengan yang disediakan pada theme (Lihat file text pada folder bawaan themes). BERHATI-HATILAH PADA SAAT MEREPLACE FILE EXPLORER karena ada beberapa versi Windows yang tidak kompatible dengan file explorer yang dibawa Ubuntu Themes.
Q) Setelah saya mencoba trik di atas, kenapa windows explorer malah tidak berfungsi?
A) Kemungkinan ada kesalahan saat mereplace explorer lama dengan yang baru. Bisa jadi anda secara tidak sengaja menutup explorer sebelum explorer yang baru tercopy ke folder C:Windows.
Q) Lokasi installer windows saya tidak berada di drive C, bagaimana agar bisa mencoba trik ini?
A) Tinggal mengikuti di mana folder Windows berada, kalau di D taruh di D, kalau di E ya taruh di E dan seterusnya.

A new version of one of the most popular Linux distributions, Ubuntu, is due in less than a months time. The final stable version of Ubuntu 9.10 will be released on 29 October, according to their website. However, a beta for version 9.10 is available for those interested.
The new version features several changes, one of which is the use of the faster ext4 file system by default for new installations (although existing file systems will not be upgraded). In addition, the latest version of GNOME, version 2.28, is included with the beta. The "look and feel" of booting the system has also been improved.
GRUB 2 is now the default bootloader, however it does lack support for a few things such as password support. You can find the main improvements in Ubuntu 9.10 here. Naturally there are some issues with the beta, which you can find at the bottom of that page.
Whilst new versions are not usually special, the switch to the ext4 file system is a major step forward for Ubuntus aim to have a ten second boot time for 2010s release, as the file system offers improved performance compared to its predecessor.
For those who want a look before the final release on 29 October, the beta can be downloaded through the usual ways from here, however the beta is recommended for testing purposes only, and, of course, always make a full backup if you do use it.
